fashion blogger and internet celebrity has seen Weibo turn against her after she allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman following an argument over her unleashed dog.
On Sunday, the alleged victim, surnamed Yang, took to Weibo to describe the incident. Her post now has more than 130,000 shares and 100,000 comments.
In the post, Yang writes that she was taking a walk with her husband in a residential neighborhood in Hangzhou last Friday evening when an unleashed French bulldog suddenly started running straight for her. To protect his pregnant wife, Yang’s husband kicked the dog, leading to a confrontation with the dog’s owner, a young woman named Chen Qing, better known to her more than 3.3 million Weibo followers as Saya.
The conflict quickly turned physical with Chen’s mother also getting involved. Yang claims that the two women grabbed her hair and pressed on her belly. The fight was broken up by neighborhood security guards and police soon arrived.
While none of the combatants suffered any visible injuries, Yang, who is 32 weeks pregnant, said that she was feeling unwell and was rushed to the hospital. There, doctors found that she was at risk of having a premature birth, according to a medical report that Yang posted online.
On Tuesday morning, Hangzhou police announced that they were conducting an open investigation into the case, noting that both Chen and her mother had been asked to come to the police station. Chen’s mother may face charges of impending police as she tussled with an officer who was trying to break up the brouhaha. Meanwhile, Chen could face charges if anything happens to Yang’s unborn child, police said.
The story of Chen assaulting a pregnant woman blew up on Weibo on Monday, quickly becoming a top trending topic. The young woman has not yet responded to the allegations and has not made a fashion post on her Weibo account since Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, she has blocked comments on all of her old posts.
