It takes guts when you expand beyond your expertise, which is what The Deli Boys has done. Known for their smoked meat sandwiches, the Dingxi Road restaurant recently grew their menu to include salads and pastas, as well as an extensive number of all-day breakfast items. But perhaps the most underrated dishes on their enlarged format are the starters.

There are nine items to choose from, such as a CD-size cap of portobello mushroom, roasted with vegetables and topping in a savory tomato sauce. There’s the smoked duck mini nachos, full of bacon-like flavor on melty cheese and crunchy chips. The smoked salmon trio gets you a medley of the fish – smoked, cured, and in pate form – while the triple meat and cheesy risotto croquettes taste as epic as it sounds: beefy, rich, textural, and satisfyingly good.
