as your underwear mysteriously been going missing recently? We may now have an idea as to why.
On Monday, police in Shanghai’s suburban Qingpu district announced that they had detained a serial panty thief who had confessed to four underwear thefts in the area, Shine.cn reports. Police had launched their investigation in early September after a woman reported that the underwear she had hung up to dry outside of her home and disappeared.
By checking nearby surveillance cameras, police were able to uncover footage showing a man snatching the underwear from the clothesline in broad daylight. Eventually, they were able to learn the man’s identity and track him down.
After being arrested, the 37-year-old man surnamed Li confessed to three other panty raids, explaining that he did them “to feel excited.”
It’s not clear what Li did with the pairs of underwear after he stole them. Last year in the Jiangxi city of Jiujiang, police caught a particularly prolific panty thief who had managed to amass a collection of over 10,000 pieces of stolen women’s clothing inside his small dorm room. He confessed that every night he would gather up a pile of stolen underwear to cuddle with as he fell asleep.
Back in 2014, another dude’s underwear theft spree was exposed when his ceiling gave way under the weight of all the stolen unmentionables he had stockpiled.
