Located in Lingang City, the massive aquatic park spans over 297,000 square meters, that’s 55 football fields – and is divided into five theme areas: Mermaid Bay, Polar Town, Ice and Snow Kingdom, Sea Bottom, and Marine tribe. Animal exhibits include beluga and killer whales, dolphins, whale sharks, penguins, sea lions, and jellyfish.
There is also a cable car, rides, a rollercoaster, rafting, six huge exhibition halls, three large-scale performing venues, and two theaters. Some restaurants let you dine like you’re underwater, and there is an ocean-theme hotel too.
The park also an onsite marine life conservation center that will ensure the animals are well taken care of, and part of their proceeds will go towards environmental protection.
Besides Haichang Ocean Park and Disney Resort, Lingang City will also be home to the upcoming Wintastar Shanghai, billed as the world’s largest indoor snow resort, and Shanghai Planetarium.
