rapping up one of the most shocking Chinese celebrity scandals of last year, actor Jiang Jinfu will not be charged with domestic violence in Japan after being released from police custody.
The 27-year-old star had turned himself in to police in Tokyo in late November after his ex-girlfriend, Japanese model Haruka Nakura, posted photos onto Instagram of her bruised face, neck, and arms. She later claimed that Jiang’s violent abuse had caused her to suffer a miscarriage and that he had once used a hammer to beat her, knocking out two of her teeth.
Jiang responded by posting a statement on his Weibo account, admitting to domestic violence, saying that he had spent his time in “repentance and remorse” and apologizing to his ex-girlfriend along with his family, friends, and fans.
However, at the end of December, Jiang was released from Japanese police custody. It’s been rumored that he reached a settlement with Nakura. On January 4th, the Tokyo prosecutor’s office officially announced that they would not be pursuing charges against Jiang who has since been spotted back in China.
Jiang started off as a model before becoming famous across the country for starring in the popular TV drama Xuan-Yang Sword: Scar of Sky in 2012. He then went on to act in a number of television series and films. Last year, he decided to take a break from acting and go study abroad in Japan. Soon, he and Hakaura were dating and sharing their photos together on Instagram, appearing to be a happy couple.
