ee half a century of top Western art in one day at this museum in Shanghai, which is holding an exhibit of some of the Western world’s most respected artists including Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, and Warhol.
On now till the end of April at Powerlong Museum in Qibao district, the “500 years of Western Paintings: Tokyo Fuji Art Museum” exhibit showcases masterpieces on loan from the Japanese institution’s 30-year collection.
The art spans periods from the Renaissance to Postmodernism, and on display are works such as Peter Paul Reuben’s baroque depiction of Roman emperor Constantine’s marriage, Claude Monet’s Impressionist brushstrokes of water lilies, and Amedeo Modigliani’s modernist portrait of his patron, Paul Alexandre.
There’s also Jacques-Louis David’s iconic painting of Napoleon Crossing the Alps, Ambroise Dubois’ Flora, and Young Woman in Red Dress by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
Tickets are on sale now at ¥180 person or ¥120 for students and those over 60 years old with identification.
