ecently, shoppers at a Hong Kong supermarket were forced to mooove on over for some unusual, hungry visitors.
Amusing footage posted onto Facebook shows three feral bovines greedily helping themselves to the fruit in stock at the grocery store on Lantau Island. Udderly helpless to do anything, human shoppers could only stand back, laugh, and film.
The incident occurred on Thursday night at a ParknShop in the town of Mui Wo on Lantau, an island that is home to hundreds of wild cows. While many found the clip hilarious, the Lantau Buffalo Association, for one, didn’t believe that the scene was a laughing matter, declaring instead that it showed how these animals’ habitat was being changed and diminished by human activity.
Though Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department attempted to allay any concerns by calling this a one-off issue, however, that now appears to be a bunch of bull as two cows tried to force their way into the supermarket again on Sunday night, only to be stopped by staff holding the doors closed and shuttering the shop.
