couple in southern China have found themselves in trouble with the law after profiting for years by selling their own children.
According to prosecutors in Guangxi’s Wuzhou city, the couple, a man surnamed Zhong and a woman surnamed Quan, have been together for a decade and during that time have lived a “lazy” life, constantly lacking for money.
Their chief source of income appears to have been their children. From April 2013 to February 2018, Quan gave birth to five babies (three boys and two girls). Those infants were sold for more than 100,000 yuan ($14,900) in total.
An arrest warrant has filed for the couple and their case is now under investigation with local prosecutors attaching special importance to the case and planning to charge them with child trafficking.
