Alcoholics, rejoice! Because, praise be, cocktails on tap are a thing this season in Shanghai.
Over at The Zuk Bar, the city’s latest haven for cocktail connoisseurs located in designer hotel The Sukhothai Shanghai, they’re serving up draft cocktails with Spirits Box for one night only on May 18.
Ah, yes, some people may be repulsed by the idea of pre-batched cocktails because of the perceived loss of quality. But hey, when you want your drink, you want it now.
And, it’s all for a good cause. We’re told that if the key ingredient for one drink is say, egg white, instead of disposing the egg yolk, they’ll repurpose it by creating a lemon curd for other drinks, thereby cutting unnecessary waste. Saving the planet while saving me time? Count me in anytime.
Pop-ups with two up-and-coming mixologists are also on at ZUK beginning this weekend.
Lin began his bartending career at Ounce Taipei, the first bar to introduce Taiwan to New York-style speakeasy culture and ranked among Asia’s 50 Best Bars. In 2017, he became regional champion in Taiwan at Diageo’s World Class competition, winning the “Bartender of the Year” among other awards.
Dutch-Chinese mixologist Steven Beerens takes over next weekend with a two-day pop-up. The third generation in his family to work in the alcohol industry, he’s been a part of six different venue openings from Hong Kong to Australia at just 26.
The ZUK Bar is located at The Sukhothai Shanghai (380 Weihai Road).
