n the afternoon of July 11th, a two-year-old girl fell out of a 17th-floor apartment window. Incredibly, after hitting the ground, she stood right up and walked back into the building without suffering any serious injuries.
According to a local news video, the toddler, named Yueyue, lives in her family’s high-rise apartment in Changzhou, Jiangsu province. On the day of the fall, she was sleeping at home when her grandmother decided to go out and buy some groceries.
Shortly after being left at home alone, Yueyue woke up and crawled around the apartment looking for grandma. She then climbed onto a computer desk to look out the window. However, the window was not shut, so it opened when Yueyue leaned against it, causing her to fall.
While such a long fall would seem assuredly fatal, fortunately, Yueyue survived after having her descent slowed by tree branches and landing on a soft patch of grass with soil softened by recent rains. Following her 17-story fall, the little girl managed to get right back up and walk into the building while crying for her grandma.
The grandmother later found out that the toddler had fallen from the open window when she returned to the building to find her neighbors comforting the crying little girl. She quickly contacted Yueyue’s parents and the family rushed the child to the hospital where she was treated for liver contusion and a minor rib fracture.
“We expected her injuries to be severe, but her vitals were stable when she came in. She didn’t look like she had fallen down 17 stories,” the doctor told reporters.
It appears that kids born in the city of Changzhou are especially durable. Back in 2016, a 3-year-old boy fell 15 stories from another apartment window in the city, landing right on his face. The boy suffered a badly swollen face and multiple broken bones, but survived the fall.
