It’s shaping up to be a boozy week, with plenty of events and parties to knock back a drink or three. The Ritz Bar & Lounge’s Movers & Shakers Series and second anniversary
The Ritz Bar & Lounge continues to bring in guest bartenders from around the world with their Movers & Shakers Series, and this time its Arnd Henning Heissen from The Curtain Club at The Ritz- Carlton, Berlin. Heissen is known for blending perfumery techniques into his bartending, and serves his drinks in customized glassware to enhance their characters. On Friday, Heissen will also be headlining The Ritz Bar & Lounge’s second anniversary together with head bartender Jackael He and DJ Naomi, and guests stand a chance to win a two-nights stay for two at a Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Celebrity Bartender Series at The 1515 West Chophouse & Bar
Joe Schofield is a giant in the bartending world, and it’s apt that he’s in Shanghai for 1515 West’s Celebrity Bartender Series. He was most recently named International Bartender of the Year at this year’s Spirited Awards, an industry ceremony akin to the Oscars for bartenders, and former Tippling Club man is responsible for hauling the Singapore bar to number seven on this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. Before he opens his new bar in Manchester next year, catch Schofield behind the stick every evening from Wednesday to Saturday.

Franziskaner Shanghai Oktoberfest 2018
Beer guzzlers rejoice: Oktoberfest is back starting Thursday. Some locally-based Germans are putting on what they bill as “a real Munich Oktoberfest experience,” and that means free-flow, one-liter beer glasses of Franziskaner and Becks, a traditional Bavarian three-course meal by German restaurant Zeitgeist, rounds of the game nageln (nailing), and a live band from Munich all under a massive festival tent.

Wild West Party at The Blind Pig
The Blind Pig is throwing a wild west-themed party this Friday with barbecue, bourbon, and beer. There’s a buffet with pulled pork and pastrami sliders, smokehouse schnitzels, smoked pork mini ribs, armadillo eggs, and more, and they have drink specials where you get three glasses of either their house ale, bourbon, or Jagermeister for ¥100. Reservations are recommended, and entry is free.

BottlesXO’s Hi Spirits #3
BottlesXO brings back their Hi Spirits party for the third time. This edition is happening at Columbia Circle on Saturday, and they have deals on cocktails (¥50), wines and beers (¥40), and a flight of five drinks for ¥150. There will also be music, and food is provided by new restaurant Circo. Free entry.

Ladies Who Drink
Challenge the concept of a girly drink at this event on Sunday. Dubbed Ladies Who Drink, it’s a club that lets women learn about alcohol through tasting and education, and they’re launching their Shanghai chapter this weekend. There will be masterclasses on cocktail making, wine tasting, pairing whiskey and beer, and an introduction to tequila, as well as plenty of opportunities to try new drinks.
