With Didi Chuxing suspending its late-night ride-hailing services for a week, a young woman was apparently forced to go “old school” in order to get around downtown Shanghai.
At around 11:00 pm last night, the woman, wearing a black tank top and high-heeled boots, was spotted riding a horse down Yan’an West Road, attracting the attention of motorists and passersby.
Soon, a number of video clips of the woman’s ride started circulating around WeChat. When one motorcycle rider slowed down to ask what the heck she was doing, the woman replied, “Nothing, this is my pet.”
Eventually, police caught wind of what was going on, catching up to the woman at the intersection of Chongqing South Road and Huaihai Middle Road and taking her into custody. According to The Paper, the woman is a 26-year-old Shanghai native. It’s not clear why she decided to go horseback riding. She was let go following a stern warning.
