ideo has hit the Chinese internet showing a couple of middle schoolers smashing their smartphones on the floor in the front of a classroom while being watched by their teacher and classmates.
When one throw appears not to render enough damage, one of the students is told to pick the phone back up and slam it on the floor once more.
The incident took place earlier this month at a middle school in Hunan’s Yongzhou county. A teacher at the school told reporters that the school does not allow cell phones on campus and claims that students “voluntarily” decided to smash their phones after recognizing their mistakes.
Zero tolerance mobile phone policies are common in Chinese schools where studying comes before all else. Typically, however, it is the teachers who perform the cellular annihilation.
