eople of Shanghai! We have good news and we have bad news.
The good news is that because of the upcoming China International Import Expo, you’ll be getting November 4th to 6th (Sunday to Tuesday) off from work.
The bad news is that you’ll have to make up these days on November 3rd (Saturday) and November 11th (Sunday). Aren’t Chinese holiday schedules the greatest?
This calendar only technically applies to students and government workers in Shanghai, however, other companies in the city can also choose to follow the timetable.
This is the very first China International Import Expo (CIIE). At the moment, Chinese state media are busy hyping the event while workers are attempting to spruce up the city before the visitors arrive. The CIIE is yet another part of China’s grand plans to establish itself as the world’s leading supporter of globalization and push its $1 trillion Belt and Road infrastructure initiative on other countries.
A total of 2,800 companies from all around the world are expected to be in attendance. Xi Jinping will be in town for the opening day festivities. The expo will be help from November 5th to 10th.
