ecently, video has gone viral on Chinese social media showing a woman running, tripping, and falling into shark-infested waters… at a shopping mall in Zhejiang province.
In the footage, the woman is seen booking it across a transparent walkway before stumbling and falling straight into an open hole which leads to an elevated shark tank. Through the glass, the woman is seen splashing around as small lemon sharks circle around her.
Fortunately, mall employees responded quickly to the incident with some jumping in the tank to rescue the woman before she became shark food. Lemon sharks are not known as being aggressive to humans, though, like many other animals, they can become defensive when their space is invaded.
It turns out that this all occurred early in the morning before the Wuyue Plaza in Pinghu city opened to the public. The woman was running because she was late for a meeting and the tank was uncovered because it was feeding time and workers had been extremely careless.
Sharks are apparently a thing at Chinese shopping malls. Back in July, a 6-year-old girl nearly got her fingers ripped off by one at an open-top aquarium in a mall in Guiyang.
