hanghai police have revealed that the driver who plowed his Porsche into the garden outside Sasha’s early on Friday morning was seriously intoxicated behind the wheel.
The driver has been identified as a 24-year-old man surnamed Zhou, police told a local reporter. At the time of the crash, he was driving with a blood alcohol content of .23, far above the legal limit in China and enough to indicate that he was more than just a bit tipsy.
Zhou crashed his sports car through the gate outside the entrance to Sasha’s and Zapata’s on Hengshan Road at around 12:40 am on Friday night. Three people were injured in the crash including one tourist who was seriously injured but is now reported to be out of life-threatening danger.
The incident is currently under investigation. Zhou has been detained by police.
