pole dancer was injured on the job yesterday morning in Taiwan after the jeep that she was dancing on got into an accident.
The woman was one of three scantily-clad young ladies who were performing atop a convoy of jeeps as they passed through the town of Taibao in southwestern Chiayi county. The spectacle was a way of attracting attention and an audience to a pilgrimage ceremony happening at a local temple.
At around 8 am, one of the jeeps crashed into the back of a truck, causing the woman to lose her grip on her pole, sending her flying off the top of the vehicle and onto the pavement. The driver of the jeep was also slightly injured in the crash, as well as a passing scooter driver, who turned out to be the deputy director of the temple, Apple Daily reports.
Afterward, all three were taken to the hospital.
As strange as it may seem, pole-dancing convoys are actually a thing in Taiwan, used to liven up various types of religious events, weddings, and even funerals. Last year, Chiayi county mourned the passing of a government official with a parade of 50 scantily-clad women pole dancing on top of 50 jeeps as loud pop music blared through the city streets.
While, over on the other side of the strait, the Chinese government has decided to take the “fun” out of funeral by cracking down on “funeral strippers,” the practice remains alive and well in Taiwan.
