Chongqing bus tragedy appears to have done little to improve commuters’ courtesy towards bus drivers in China with one driver having his tooth knocked out by angry passengers on Sunday in the Shaanxi county of Suide.he
The three male passengers were apparently irate at the driver for not allowing them to exit through the bus’s front door, telling them to use the back door instead, as per regulations.
In the ensuing struggle, the three men are seen on surveillance tape grabbing and punching the driver as he tries to defend himself. The clash left the driver with various bruises and scrapes and one tooth knocked out.
The bus company paid for the driver’s medical expenses. The three men have been detained by police.
This, of course, comes after a fight last week between a passenger and driver on a Chongqing bus led to the bus veering into oncoming traffic and plummeting into the Yangtze River with 15 people on board. So far, 13 bodies have been recovered.
The female passenger had been angry at the bus driver for refusing to stop and let her out after she missed her stop. In the following week, at least two other commuters in China have grabbed a bus steering wheel while arguing with a driver after missing their stop.
