f you’re the kind of person who likes to treat yourself by buying expensive watches, handbags, and jewelry, then you can find no pricier place to live in Asia than Shanghai.
According to private Swiss bank Julius Baer’s recently-released annual Wealth Report Asia, our fair city has surpassed Hong Kong to reclaim its title as the most expensive place in Asia for living a life of luxury.
The report looks at the prices of 20 luxury goods and services in 11 major cities across the continent. In Shanghai, you’ll find the priciest watches, ladies handbags, wine, jewelry, skin cream, and hospital rooms. On the bright side, hotel suites and pianos are relatively inexpensive and ladies shoes are downright cheap.
Though, if you want a real deal on luxury goods, you should head to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur — unless you’re in need of botox, in that case, go to Mumbai.
Here’s this year’s rankings:
- Hong Kong
- Kuala Lumpur
