In their latest video, Shanghai-based production company Yitiao takes you inside a massive villa hiding in the heart of Shanghai at No. 675 Julu Road. The 4,000 square meter mansion known as the “Eros’ Garden” was built by Liu Jisheng, the “Coal King” of Republican-era China as a gift for his wife in 1931.
16 years later, the couple fled for Hong Kong never to return. Liu’s brother donated the house to the government in 1952. It now houses the Shanghai Writers’ Association.
