    10) Yunnan villagers caught digging up confiscated meat from landfill to resell

    Reportedly, the villagers have been engaged in this disgusting practice for at least the last two years. A particularly large haul of seized meat is said to bring out as many as 500 people to the local landfill.

    9) Man tries to cure his constipation by shoving a giant eggplant up his anus

    The 30cm long aubergine ended up hurting the man’s lung. It’s not clear if it cured his constipation or if he got to keep the vegetable afterward.

    8) 5-story building spotted floating down the Yangtze River in Chongqing

    The building was actually a giant “floating restaurant” that was in danger of being seized by police for violating regulations, so its owners decided to float it upriver.

    7) Woman finds rat inside her popsicle, demands 50,000 yuan in compensation

    Chinese companies are really starting to go overboard with all their weird popsicle flavorings.

    6) Man buys adorable little puppy to keep him company, turns out to be a rat

    A bamboo rat, more specifically.

    5) After living together for half a year, woman discovers her “boyfriend” is a woman

    She only found this out after spending 300,000 yuan on her “boyfriend” before “he” vanished.

    4) Pregnant woman fishes dead rat out of hot pot, owner offers her money for an abortion

    The viral incident ended up causing the popular Xiabu Xiabu restaurant chain to lose $190 million in market value.

    3) Chengdu plans to launch “artificial moon” into space to save on electricity

    If all goes according to plan, the city will be able to scrap its street lights by 2020, though the project does seem just a tad unfeasible and impractical.

    2) Kindergarten welcomes students back to school with performance by pole dancers

    Afterward, the school in Shenzhen apologized to parents, reassuring them that pole dancing would not be on the curriculum.

    1) Spring Festival gala skit features Chinese woman in blackface declaring “I love China”

    In a skit aimed at promoting China-Africa ties in this year’s most-watched television program, a veteran Chinese actress dressed up as an African mother, complete with blackface and a large artificial behind. She concludes her performance by declaring “I love Chinese people! I love China!” as the audience applauds.
