ith a rare snowfall in the city of Chengdu recently, local vendors saw opportunity all around them.
At the city’s Longquan Mountain Forest Park, they began working feverishly to build as many cute snow creatures as they could, offering to sell them to tourists for between 20 to 50 yuan.
While purchasing snow would appear to be a bad investment, the novelty of it all apparently turned the business strategy into a success. Reportedly, some earned more than a 1,000 yuan over two days.
Afterward, the park’s management committee was left to clarify that this was all perfectly legal and above board. “Selling and buying snow is normal behavior in a market economy,” the committee told the Global Times.
