woman has been exposed online for letting her kid take a piss on the floor of the former residence of China’s emperors.
Photos posted onto Weibo show the woman pulling the young boy’s pants down as a puddle forms in front of them in an alcove that is surrounded by tourists at Beijing’s Forbidden City. Reportedly, they even left tissue paper on the ground afterward as well. Netizens joked that in past centuries they would be beheaded for some behavior.
When asked about the incident, a staff member at the Palace Museum, the formal name of the Forbidden City, said that the imperial palace complex-turned-tourist attraction has 14 public toilets and more temporary ones are even added during peak periods like the Spring Festival holiday.
The worker added that the space is simply too big to supervise all visitors, so they must rely on tourists’ conscientiousness.
Over the years, Chinese tourists have developed a reputation for using the world as their bathroom, urinating on the streets of Hong Kong, pissing in front of the royal reception hall in Bangkok, and taking a dump outside of a Burberry store on the outskirts of Oxford.
