he number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Shanghai has now reached above 300.
On Tuesday morning, the Shanghai Health Commission announced that three more cases of the virus had been confirmed, bringing the city’s total up to 302.
These three newly diagnosed patients are all residents of Shanghai.
Shanghai’s coronavirus patients have ranged in age from as old as 88 to as young as 7 months.
So far, 48 of them have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. 10 are in serious condition and 10 more in critical.
An 88-year-old man with the virus who was also suffering from pre-existing health issues died last month. He has been the city’s lone fatality.
There are another 180 suspected cases in Shanghai.
To prevent the spread of the virus, the Shanghai government has taken various measures including requiring all those returning to the city to self-quarantine for two weeks, installing temperature checks at metro stations, and closing schools indefinitely.
