he number of lives claimed by the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak has now climbed above 1,000.
With a record 108 new deaths reported over the last 24 hours, the virus death toll is at 1,017, as of Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the number of new infections is down from its peak late last week but there were still 2,482 new cases reported across the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in China up to 42,717.
At the same time, the total suspected cases tally has decreased by nearly 2,000 while 3,563 new suspected cases have been reported.
The province of Hubei itself is now up over 30,000 confirmed cases along with 974 deaths. 18,454 of those infections and 748 of those deaths are from Wuhan alone.
In brighter news, the number of people who have recovered from the virus and been discharged from the hospital continues to rise at a record pace with 782 patients cured over the last 24 hours, bringing that total up to 4,065.
