After China’s “Two Sessions” parliamentary meetings in Beijing were pushed back, the coronavirus has forced the postponement of yet another landmark event on the country’s calendar.
The gaokao, China’s all-important national college entrance, will be delayed by a month to July 7 and 8 because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday.
Each year, more than 10 million students take the gaokao.
The nine-hour exam plays a pivotal in determining their future, being the determining factor in where they will end up going to university.
Students prepare for many years for the gaokao. Now, they’ll have another month.
